"Traction" by Katy DeBra, 12" x 12" x 0.5"

Good to feel some traction starting a new year, setting out on something new. What quality does it have? Digging in - yes! - getting going, and then what? Is it from pushing our way through or from someplace more sustainable? Perhaps even filled with possibilities and wonder.

"Traction" consists of acrylic paint layered with henna paste and glitter that is sealed onto the canvas. The raised henna patterns shimmer in changing light and create a tapestry effect. The sparkles in luscious colors can be mesmerizing to watch!

From the Rainbow Connections series: they feature rainbows and rainbow swaths made up of a transmission pattern, usually on a black or gold background. These materials combine my deep loves of henna, color, energy, sparkles and abstract painting.
